Plagiarism Policy

Panggulawentah: Journal of Education and Social Humanities (PJESH) is committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity and originality in scholarly publishing. To ensure the authenticity of all submissions, every manuscript submitted to PJESH is screened for plagiarism using a plagiarism-detection tool (such as Turnitin or equivalent similarity-check software) prior to the peer-review process.

PJESH strictly prohibits all forms of plagiarism, including self-plagiarism, duplicate publication, and improper citation practices. Manuscripts found to contain plagiarism will be rejected immediately or returned to the authors for revision, depending on the severity of the issue. The maximum acceptable similarity index is 20%, with no single source exceeding 15%, excluding references, bibliography, and commonly used phrases.

Plagiarism is defined as the use of ideas, data, interpretations, or exact wording from other sources without appropriate acknowledgment. This includes both intentional and unintentional acts, which are equally considered serious violations of academic ethics and are unacceptable in PJESH.

Authors are required to provide proper citations in the following situations:

  • When using specific factual information (such as names, dates, locations, statistics, or detailed data) obtained from another source
  • When adopting or adapting ideas, concepts, interpretations, or methodological approaches developed by other authors, even if the ideas are further elaborated
  • When reproducing exact words or phrases from another source, in such cases, quotation marks and proper citation must be used.

Using four or more consecutive words identical to a source without quotation marks constitutes plagiarism, even if the source is cited.

PJESH editors reserve the right to withdraw acceptance, request revisions, or retract published articles if plagiarism is identified at any stage of the publication process. Authors are therefore strongly encouraged to ensure the originality of their manuscripts and to adhere to internationally accepted citation and referencing standards.
