|
Panggulawentah: Journal of Education and Social Humanities (PJESH) is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and academic integrity. Since its establishment, PJESH has consistently applied ethical principles in all stages of the publication process. Ethical responsibility is shared among all parties involved in scholarly publishing, including authors, editors, reviewers, readers, and the publisher. Through this shared commitment, PJESH seeks to foster a transparent, fair, and trustworthy academic publishing environment. PJESH adopts ethical guidelines in line with internationally recognized standards, particularly those promoted by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), to ensure the credibility and integrity of published works. Responsibilities of the Publisher The publisher of PJESH is responsible for ensuring that the publication process supports the unbiased production, dissemination, and open accessibility of scholarly knowledge. The publisher plays an enabling role by providing editorial independence, technical infrastructure, and legal support throughout the publication workflow. PJESH ensures that editorial decisions are made solely on academic merit and are free from political, ideological, ethnic, or commercial influence. The publisher safeguards the academic record by addressing ethical issues such as plagiarism, corrections, retractions, and withdrawals in accordance with best publishing practices. Similarity checks are applied to all submissions, and editors are supported in implementing ethical review and publication standards. Responsibilities of Editors Editors of PJESH are entrusted with full authority and responsibility over editorial decisions and operate in accordance with COPE’s Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors. Editorial decisions are based on the scholarly quality, originality, clarity, and relevance of submitted manuscripts. Editors ensure that the peer-review process is conducted in a fair, timely, and confidential manner. Each research article is evaluated by at least two independent reviewers with appropriate expertise. Editors are responsible for preventing conflicts of interest, maintaining reviewer anonymity under the double-blind review system, and ensuring that all evaluations remain objective and constructive. Manuscripts are assessed solely on academic content, regardless of authors’ personal characteristics or institutional affiliations. Editors will not engage in practices intended to manipulate citation metrics or journal rankings and will not request unnecessary citations. Confidential information obtained during the editorial process will not be used for personal or professional advantage. Editors collaborate with the publisher to investigate allegations of misconduct and take appropriate actions, including corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern when necessary. Responsibilities of Reviewers Contribution to Editorial Decisions Peer reviewers play a critical role in supporting editorial decisions and enhancing manuscript quality. Reviewers are expected to provide objective, constructive, and timely evaluations. Reviewers who feel unqualified or unable to complete a review within the assigned timeframe must inform the editor promptly. Confidentiality All manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. Reviewers must not disclose or discuss manuscript content with others and must not attempt to identify the authors. Unpublished material may not be used for personal research without explicit permission from the authors. Ethical Awareness and Objectivity Reviewers should alert editors to any ethical concerns, including potential plagiarism or data manipulation. Reviews must focus on scholarly merit and avoid personal criticism. Any conflicts of interest—academic, personal, or financial—must be disclosed prior to accepting a review assignment. Responsibilities of Authors Accuracy and Transparency Authors must present their research honestly and clearly, providing sufficient detail to allow replication where applicable. Fabrication, falsification, or misrepresentation of data constitutes unethical behavior and is unacceptable. Originality and Citation Manuscripts submitted to PJESH must be original and not under consideration elsewhere. Proper acknowledgment of sources is mandatory. All forms of plagiarism, including self-plagiarism, are strictly prohibited. Multiple Submissions Authors must not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously or publish substantially similar content in multiple outlets. Authorship Authorship should reflect significant intellectual contributions to the research. All listed authors must approve the final manuscript and agree to its submission. Any changes to authorship after submission require the consent of all authors and editorial approval. Human and Animal Ethics Research involving human participants or animals must comply with applicable ethical standards and legal requirements. Authors must confirm that informed consent was obtained and that participant privacy was protected. Conflict of Interest Authors must disclose any financial or personal relationships that could influence the research. Sources of funding and the role of sponsors, if any, must be clearly stated. Post-Publication Responsibility Authors are obligated to promptly notify the editors if significant errors are discovered after publication and to cooperate fully in issuing corrections or retractions when necessary. Malpractice Statement Panggulawentah: Journal of Education and Social Humanities (PJESH) is firmly committed to maintaining academic integrity and preventing all forms of publication malpractice. The journal upholds ethical standards in scholarly publishing and takes seriously any misconduct that may undermine the credibility of academic work and the trust of the scholarly community. Publication malpractice includes, but is not limited to, plagiarism, data fabrication or falsification, duplicate or redundant publication, unethical authorship practices, undisclosed conflicts of interest, and manipulation of the peer-review process. PJESH does not tolerate such practices under any circumstances. All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial editorial screening and similarity check to identify potential ethical violations. When suspected misconduct is identified at any stage of the editorial or publication process, the editorial team will conduct a thorough investigation in accordance with established ethical guidelines, including those recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). If malpractice is confirmed, PJESH may take appropriate corrective actions, including manuscript rejection, retraction of published articles, publication of corrections or expressions of concern, and notification of relevant institutions or authorities when necessary. Authors are expected to fully cooperate with any investigation into suspected ethical breaches. PJESH also emphasizes shared responsibility among authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher in preventing malpractice. By fostering transparency, accountability, and ethical awareness, PJESH aims to protect the integrity of the academic record and ensure the quality and reliability of all published content. |
